I really love the idea of having a napkin for each person in the house that way no one is confused as to who's is who's. This set is for a friend of mine that was having a baby and wanted to get a set of napkins for her whole family. They are simple but hopefully get the job done. Good thing they all have different initials. They are now having another baby so I guess I need to make them another one for the new baby. Luckily that little one won't need one for a few months. ;)

She also wanted a set for when she has company over and they need a napkin. I had done in the past Eat napkins but she wanted a set that said, eat, drink, and be merry. Loved the idea and since they wouldn't fit the way I have placed them before I put the words going down the side of the napkin. I really like how they turned out and I could see using just the eat for appetizers, or just the drink for a cocktail party or just the be merry when Christmas comes. Of course using the set together is so perfect and can you imagine how fun these would look already set out at each person's place before dinner. So fun.

You have seen other screen printed onesies that I have done and I was ready to try out a few new ideas that I had. They have been on Etsy but I have yet to talk about them here. Man I am behind in my blog posts. So after having a few babies that have made me rise a bit ealier than I normally would have before babies and thought this early bird onesie would resonate with many moms.

Speaking of no sleep, this onesie is a take off of a bumper sticker that I have seen around town and totally makes me think of not only night owls but newborns that are awake and ready to play at night.
This onesie was recommended by a client at a craft fair. I am not a huge Harry Potter fan but I think this is great for those who love those books. You can't tell from this picture but this is printed in a iron color. It is a black that has some shimmer to it. It just reminds me of iron and metal, looks cool in person.
Can you tell that our kiddos have both been criers? I think this is cute for the colic baby who just needs to be a bit crabby sometimes.
I have always wanted to create a bee onesie for my little one since that was his nickname. I of course did this way too late and he of course can not wear this but I still think it is cute to have a little bumblebee on a onesie. It is screen printed in gold ink.
1. This is probably not new news for anyone but the clothing store H&M now has a website and you can order online. I don't really get out shopping very much unless I am in Target but I always see cute clothes that other bloggers wear that they purchased from H&M so I thought I would give the site a try. I have yet to actually buy anything yet because I am a bit maxed out in the clothing department but man did you see the dressing room feature? So cool. Well I just went to look for the link to show you how cool it is and I can't find it. Maybe it is only on the app? Or maybe they got rid of it but it was so cool that you could see how it looks on a "person" with your measurements before you order it. Too bad it is not a guarantee that it will fit.

2. Speaking of clothing. There is a new website that I heard of a few weeks ago called Go Chic or Go Home. I go on there every once in a while to get ideas of outfits. Ever since I have been staying at home I have been trying to figure out what to wear. I am used to wearing business causal since that is what I wore to work but now that I am at home with sticky kids I know that I can't really wear those same outfits that I used to wear. I just want a few ideas on how to transition and I love that there are pictures of normal people wearing different styles of outfits. You can also upload you clothing to help you put outfits together or just download your outfit pics that you take. If you are looking for a way to wear that white skirt you can just search for ways that others have worn white skirts. Something that I need sometimes....help figuring out how to wear things.

3. Bee loves to wear his sunglasses outside and I think he is pretty much the only child that we see out and about with sunglasses on and he always get the comments like "cool dude" and "love your shades." HA He started wearing them because he hates bugs flying in his face and in the early summer there were quite a few little gnats outside. I hate those things too, always right in your eyes driving you crazy. So I don't mind him wearing sunglasses not only to "protect him" from the bugs but to keep the sun out of his eyes.

4. I have been wanting to get into shape now that I think we have a good routine around these parts. I just need to motivate myself. We have a gym membership but it is so hard to get there with kids and they don't have child care. I have some workout videos and I just need to get up earlier in the morning and do it! It isn't about loosing weight it is about toning all of the muscles that have been out of use for 2+ years. Working on the pain in my back that I am sure is from a weak abdomen. Wish me luck Jillian here I come!
5. I am excited that shows are starting their seasons up this month. I have been wanting something to watch at night while sewing and there isn't much to choose from on hulu during the summer. I watched The Office last year and was glad with the final show but am a bit sad that it is over. I now need to go back and watch the first two seasons, I think I started watching season 3 or 4. Downton Abby and Call the Midwife are what I am really waiting for but it might be a while until they start here in the USA, in January, right BBC watchers? Here is a clip of the Season 4 trailer.

6. I am now an android user and really love my new phone. Maybe that is because I can now text for free or because the pictures that my camera takes are almost better than my good camera (not really but close) and I can get on the internet while in free internet hot spots. AWESOME. Welcome to 2013 me. haha

7. There is a local ice cream shop about two blocks away that is closed...for good. I realized this about half way through the summer and I am still really sad about it and drive by just to see if they opened again. It is called Spanky's and I miss it. I loved the Snickers concretes and I guess I will have to go to DQ which is not as close to my house. Maybe I should try making my own!!
For some reason I feel like I have posted these before but maybe that is just because they are sitting out where I can see them in my work area and so I think about them a lot. So here we have two shirts that I made using two different techniques to see which I liked the best.

The first one I used a screen printing glue and applied the glue to the shirt and then shook the glitter over the part of the shirt that had the glue. This worked well but I had to race against the clock before the glue dried and even after heat setting there is still glitter that is left behind by this technique. Fine if you are little kid but not for a mom who hats glitter all over their house. On the plus side, I do like how much shimmer and sparkle this method left.

I realized that I had some silver screen printing ink and that I hadn't tried it out yet. This knight I thought would look great in silver on this black tee-shirt. It turned out to have a bit more sparkle than I thought it would. I was thinking that it would be more grey but silver it is! Perfect. Now to think of other fun things to print in silver. All I can think of right now is dollar signs gangster style. ha.

No really it could be great for a sports fan shirt or even a Halloween shirt with a cool sparkly skeleton head.

Hope you all had a great weekend. It was great here but went way too fast. I have a few fun projects that I am working on this week and one of them is baby gift set for a client.Designer Juleshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02855439885100841546noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7450489103145429214.post-29495560686834904872013-09-04T23:38:00.003-05:002013-09-04T23:38:40.843-05:00Another Batch of Burp Cloths
A year ago I wanted to make a bunch of burp cloths for me to sell at a local store that was having a craft fair. I didn't sell any there but have sold one set since. I hope to feature that set and how I altered it next week. I love how it turned out.

This is the set that I sold but I also have more of this fabric and can make another set if this tickles your fancy. All of these fabrics are by Amy Butler and I will never grow tired of looking at these pretty fabrics.

You might have seen these fabrics before in other things that I have made. I have a big bin of fabric that is the perfect size for burp cloths and every once in a while I just go through them and make a bunch of sets of burp cloths.
These and a few other sets are featured on Etsy and I would be happy to personalize them send them along to you. They are prefect for shower gifts or just a welcome home to mom and baby, especially when this is not the first baby. Sometimes mom is ready for something new for their second, third, etc child. They have to look at some many hand me downs that something new is fresh and oh so nice.
I have been on a fabric buying hold for a bit but looking at Amy's fabrics always makes me want to buy more. I haven't stepped foot into the local fabric store in a while just so that I am not tempted. So pretty.

Ok I think I need a life intervention or a life coach or a nanny, chef, and maid. I might have talked about these last three things before but today I want to talk about 7 of the millions of reasons why I am not great at blogging....

1. Introvert vs extrovert. I have been hearing a lot the past few months about how a lot of bloggers consider themselves introverts and that is why they like to blog. My extroverted friends all talk about wanting to have a blog but that they would much rather go out and hang out with people. So I wonder where I really fit into these categories. I am an introverted extrovert? or maybe an extroverted introvert? I love talking to people on the phone and hanging out with people but since having kids all I want to do is stay home. The thought of a play date is exciting (getting to hang out with adults) and terrifying (all the prep and dealing with the children's aftermath) at the same time.

2. Time. I feel like there is never time to blog. I can only really efficiently do it on my laptop and the prime time to blog is when the kids are asleep...and the hubby is on the computer. drat. I can use my phone but I HATE typing on that thing. The way the auto correct is on there I feel like it takes ten times longer. Maybe it is because I am not used to it, or maybe I need to change my settings. I wish I could crank out posts during naptime but squirrel is still inconstant at the length of nap. I am so pooped after playing, cooking, laundry, picking up, reading, answering a million questions running errands, etc that the thought of doing anything during naptime but surfing the internet and eating cookies makes me want to nap.

2. I have a MILLION projects that I have been working on and are waiting for me to blog about, but really who wants to see yet another breastfeeding cover that looks just like the one from yesterday? I need to split the boring posts up with....more boring posts?! :) I would love to finish all of the projects that I started instead of spending time finding a cool way to show you what I have been up to.

3. I have nothing to talk about.

4. Or maybe I do have something to talk about and I think, oohh I should put that on facebook or blog it...and then I think, who wants to read that?! I think the post will be boring or that maybe I am being too self-centered in thinking anyone wants to read my thoughts.

(Here we about to ride the bus...my first bus ride. Yes my son went on a bus before I did.)

5. Pictures...oh my. How do you ladies have time to take awesome pictures and then put so many in your blog posts?! I am still learning how to use my nice canon camera and sometimes it saves the pictures sideways. I have no idea how to change that so I have to flip them in a photo program and make them the right size so that blogger will let me post them. I might just have to start using more pictures from my cell phone which takes pretty good pictures and I think I can put them into my posts on my phone. Still takes longer to type on that crazy thing.

(Here is a bad example of bad selfies that we take around here. ;) )

6. Content and voice. I am a bad speller and not a great writer and really I know that people love to read blogs because of a certain bloggers voice and content. They are serious, funny, relatable, and they do it naturally. Sometimes it takes me so long to write a post because I am trying to write something everyone will want to read. I need to start just writing in my voice. It might not be the best, and it will have many spelling, grammar, and punctuation errors but the words will be out there.

7. L A Z Y. I think what it comes down to is that I am lazy. The kids are napping for who knows how long and instead of pounding out some words or sewing some stitches I just sit. In front of the tv, the cell phone, the computer. At night I again do the same and hours fly by. Sometimes I think to start something and just get sucked into youtube videos and then it is past my bedtime and I know I have to go to bed.

So that is why I am not great at blogging. I want to hop on here and keep you updated on what is going on with my sewing etc but I don't want it to consume my every thought and action so I guess you will see me sometimes and other times know that I am zoning after a long day of laundry, diapers, cooking, shopping, cleaning, sewing, and lovin' on my family.

Wow that turned into more of a downer post than I was going for. Yikes. Anyway I hope to be back in action and kick my laziness aside.
(If you know, skip this post.)

I read Graces two part love story and hoped she would do a link up because I love hearing how people met, then she did. Being that our anniversary was last Sunday (I started this two months ago) I am a bit nostalgic right now about how we met and when we got married. Then before I had time to type anything Amy posted her story and since she has a baby much younger than mine and had time to write her story I thought, I can find time to write mine.

(picture from 2006, the first one of the two of us)

It all began in 2005. I dated a few different guys and was just looking to take a break from all of the self imposed dating drama and wanted to see what God really had planned for my life so I took a year off from dating in 2005. I wanted to focus that year on my faith, and loving myself and not guys. I was already in a Bible study but it was with older adults and I wanted to find a group of people my own age. I finally found a Catholic young adult group that I joined, it was awesome, just what I needed. I met a bunch of really great people and loved the deep spiritual studies that we would do. In the middle of the year I met Matthew. A group of us were going to a baseball game and a few of us rode the metro link down to the stadium, he and I were two of the four doing so. We talked a bit getting off the train while walking into the stadium and I had two first impressions. 1) I thought he was a bit too sure of himself (arrogant)-but I think that was because he was a bit older than other guys I knew, and he was sure of himself. 2) When we talked about what we did he asked me a bunch of questions about the design world, since he was a handyman we could easily talk about light fixtures and carpet; and I just knew my dad would like him. We spent the next 6 months just being friends and getting to know each other. I was interested but not focused too much on wanting to date him because I still had months to go before I would allow myself to go out on a date with someone. He called me before Christmas to go out on a date I had to turn him down by explaining that I couldn't go because of my year off from dating. He asked me why I decided to take that year and was impressed with the answer that I gave (and says now that it made him want to date me more).

Before our first real date he invited me to a square dance and New Years Eve party that "everyone from the group was going to," I said yes to the dancing and no to the party. Mostly to make sure we weren't together for the midnight hour (just in case he tried to steal a kiss) and I wanted to spend time with some other good friends who were having a party. Back to the dance...it ended up that I was the only other person from the group that went to the dance and it totally felt like a date. He was invited to the family square dance by fellow CL member Jim and we were the only non family members there except for Amy the girl Jim was dating. You can read more about that cute couple at the square dance here. It was a blast and a great way to hang out on our first non-date.

About a week later he invited me to coffee later in the week but as the week moved on the drink turned into diner at Bread co (aka Panera) and then finally into dinner at Aya Sofia (now one of my favorite restaurants). It was January 10, 2006. We had an awesome time, we were one of the only couples in the place and the food was wonderful. There was a belly dancer which made the date a bit awkward because she kept coming over to our table and when she did we couldn't hear each other, so he finally asked her to please not come back over to our table. HA We finished the date off with a visit to the adoration chapel which was so sweet.

(At one of my best friend's wedding. It was one of the many weddings we attended while dating.)

Thing moved along nicely and I think we both knew early on that we were the one for each other but didn't let on to the other. I had been asking St. Joseph's intersession for my future spouse and he had a devotion to St. Joseph. There were a million other cool consciences, like his oldest sister used to work for my mom!?! I know! How funny is that. :) His family used to live next door to my Aunt and Uncle and my cousins used to play with his siblings. Sometimes I would ask him...are we sure we aren't related? My parents almost bought a house across the street from him! Crazy!

About this time, after we had been dating for 6 months he told me that he called my Dad to ask if they could talk. WHAT?! I was freaking out thinking he was going to propose at that moment, instead he said that they did talk and that he asked if he could court me. I knew that things were serious and that the question would be asked but I had no idea when.

As we got closer to our one year dating anniversary I kept thinking...is this the man I am going to marry? Often times it would freak me out thinking about spending the rest of my life with someone and that I really wanted to be sure that I was doing the right thing. He was always so sure when I was having a freak out and I was always sure when he said we had nothing in common.

(At another friend's wedding after we were engaged and while I was growing my hair out)

We were coming up on our one year anniversary, Christmas, New Years, and his birthday and I just KNEW he would propose sometime around then. For Christmas my present was The Lord of the Rings trilogy dvd set and a soy candle. I had told him that I hate getting candles as gifts (mostly from people that I am very close to because it feels so impersonal) so when he gave it to me I thought there must be a reason. It was a WEDDING CAKE FLAVORED CANDLE!! I was freaking out! Then I thought no, it is just a candle, but he insisted that I open it up. Could the ring be inside the candle, I thought? NOPE. NOTHING. He just said....doesn't it smell good?! WHAT? What are you doing buying a wedding flavored anything for someone you are about to propose to and not propose with it? Ok that is a total girl thing but is anyone with me?

Right after that he got really sick and had to miss a bunch of family functions that I went to without him and then would go hang out with his sick self. He missed a New Years Eve party where everyone asked to see my finger...it was ring less. Everyone was just waiting for him to propose, not just me. Funny thing is that if he hadn't been sick he would have prosed that weekend-the Feast of the Holy Family.

The week after, on the feast of the Epiphany he did propose, it was unexpected and built up at the same time. We had gone to mass at his parish (Epiphany) and then went for a drive and decided to go to the art museum. Enjoyed wondering around and then went back to his place to make dinner. He made me some burgers and a salad I think. After we ate he asked if I wanted to read from the bible (something we did sometimes when hanging out). Before he came into the room he was going back and forth from the kitchen with a pan and big jug of water, I had no idea what he was doing, getting ready to clean? He opened up the Bible to a different part than we had been reading and started reading John 13:1-20, when Jesus washes the disciples feet. After he read it he pulled out the stuff he got from the kitchen and took off my shoe and sock and washed my foot. He then told me that he wanted me to be his bride (there might of been more but I can't remember all of it) and asked if I would marry him. I said yes and he gave me the ring! I was so excited, and nervous and felt like I was going to be sick since we just finished eating! We got in the car and drove all over St. Louis telling family and friends that we were engaged!! It was an awesome night.
The date of our engagement was 1/7/07. We were married six months later on 7/7/07. Yes we were one of the thousands that got married that day. It was special to us because it was six months after we were engaged and we wanted to get married in July. The wedding was a day to remember for me and I wish we could go back and do it all over again. Oh and did I mention that our first kiss was on our wedding day. :) His idea not mine but it was totally worth it! We also stopped into the adoration chapel after we left the reception, so our dating was bookmarked by visits to the chapel.

Speaking of dates, Bee was born 1/7/11 and I will never forgot his birthday and will always remember the day I was asked to walk on the path of life with my husband.
I have been wearing the same outfits for the past few months but I have a new outfit that I like and wanted to share it. It is so comfortable and will be a great transition from summer to fall. It has been my go-to outfit for a few weeks now so you haven't been missing much.

As soon as I got this skirt from shesteals.com I have been loving it. I had to hem it because maxi skirts are always too long on my 5' frame but that was pretty easy. I have worn this to Mass several weekends and even to a bridal shower and when we had friends over for dinner. So it has already gotten a lot of wear.

I have also paired it with a black belt over this tucked and un-tucked. The belt is great when ones is feeling like they have had too many ice cream sandwiches. :) If you don't see me for a while you can guess I am wearing this or a few other of my old standards.

Have I shown these fabrics yet? I don't know if I have been looking at these in my bins for so long or if I have already shown some of these to you but I feel like these have already been featured on the blog. Maybe just the one on the far right? Ok, well let's just act like you have never seen these on here before. Starting on the left; the blue and green stripe fabric is a perfect compliment to patterned fabrics for aprons. The second fabric is new but it totally has a retro feeling of 70's bathroom tile. Do you see that? :) I loved the colors and I have no idea what I am going to do with it yet but there was something I was thinking of when I picked it up. The next fabric is the green and white trellis fabric. I would love to use this as a burp cloth and then embroider the baby's name over it. Wouldn't that be cute?! Finally there is the grey fabric with green, blue, white, and purple dots. I think you might have seen this before and I would love to use this for breastfeeding cover. I hope to be back soon with more posts and to show you what I have been up to the past month.

A collection of hair pins that I made a few months ago for a craft event. I have been wanting to use some of my fabric scraps for a while to make button hair pins and so I started there and I love some of the sets that I came up with. I also used the fabric with these hair pin blanks and covered them with a sealant. I love the vintage look that those little metal flower petals give. I might have to try a pair of these on myself and take a picture to show how they look like in actual hair. That might never happen because the last thing I mess with is my hair.

Some of these I think would be best on someone under the age of 15 but I do know some bold ladies that would totally stick one of these in their hair. I even have a few miss matched sets that would be great to stack on one side of your head pushing the hair back.

These will be ready to purchase on Etsy when my shop is open again in July.Designer Juleshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02855439885100841546noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7450489103145429214.post-71138660928496696122013-06-11T16:23:00.000-05:002013-06-11T16:23:26.166-05:00Father's Day...So Father's Day is Sunday and here I am just a few days away with some fun gift ideas that you will probably not be able to get in time for the actual day but you can always give an IOU or image of the item right?! Ok maybe not. I also missed Mother's Day gift giving ideas...or maybe I did share them with you and I don't remember, which is highly likely.

Anyway I saw these and thought of so many local men that would love these.
Red envelope never disappoints and I think they are so cool because they come from an actual game from the team of your choice. They are rather pricey but hey they are real baseballs. See them here or click on the image.

Speaking of cuff links I saw these on Etsy and thought they were so cool.. A picture of the ones he loves on his sleeves.
Speaking of pictures of the ones he loves, this seller does the same thing with a tie tack.
This would be great if your husband doesn't have shirts that need cuff links. I might just have to get one of these for my husband next year. If your man doesn't like something so visible, I have invisible tie tacks that grab your tie from behind so that they don't go blowing in the wind or falling into your food.
I am not able to fulfill any orders between now and Sunday but I did make a few Daddy and Grandpa Established shirts and a set of handkerchiefs would have been perfect items to give to dad or grandpa. Here are some examples of ones I have made in the past. I am sure you have seen all of these but I love having a collection of "what to buy dad/grandpa" all in one place.
We had a great weekend full of parish picnics and bbq's and lots of family time. It is hard when my husband has to work on weekends but I am so glad to have family in town that I can go hang out with when we want to get out of the house. It was also wonderful not to have to cook most of the weekend...that is how I like it. :)

I pulled this dress out of the closet this morning since I wanted to wear something easy, a dress, and I haven't worn this since last fall. I got this while at a thrift store with a friend of mine last year and it was great while pregnant and it is even more wonderful now that I am nursing. It is very comfortable and I like that it is a brown print dress...a color of dress that I didn't used to own much of but now it seems like I have more and more. I like the pop of color green sash around the waste, adds some interest. The shoes are great little brown wedges that I got from target a few years back and I love that they have some bling on them...just enough to dress them up or down. A quick and easy outfit that was comfortable for the day while we were out and about after Mass.
This set of fabric is sort of a miss mash of different fabrics that I got a while back. Who doesn't love animals and owls are especially popular right now so when I saw that black owl print fabric I had to pick some up for myself. I love that some of the owls have their eyes closed, half open, and totally open; would be perfect for some burp cloths. The second fabric in a dot pattern on a periwinkle background. This has a lot of different colors in it and would go with so many different ink colors for baby onesies. How perfect would it be for a fabric heart or initial on a shirt. The primary colored stripe that follows that is just so bold and the sneak of aqua in there really sets off the other colors. I don't remember if I have enough but this would make a great apron. Finally there are those sweet chicks. Yellow chicks remind me of the fabrics that my mom surrounded me with growing up. This fabric is bold but also looks a bit vintage with the color combination. For some reason I think of kitchen towels when I see this fabric.
What I Wore.....two weeks ago?! I took this picture and never felt like sitting down to talk about it so here it is a few weeks late. I bought this dress while pregnant and it worked well all the way though because the is stretchy and has some gather to the fabric at the waste so that it can expand. At the time I was excited to have something that I could wear before, during, and after pregnancy but now I am not sure if I still love it. I love blue and buy a lot of blue items but it have never been in love with the pattern. It is comfortable and works well for a lot of life changes so it is a keeper. Plus I think it sort of looks like my style.

We had a great day today at our local Family Life Picnic and now I am ready for a nap. I have to try to stay up for just a bit longer to finish a few projects but then straight to bed for this momma. I hope to have pictures next week that are current but who knows. ;)

1. Quick while kiddos are sleeping and I feel like typing let's knock these out. I don't know if I told you that my Father in law was taken to the hospital a month or so ago but he is doing much better and is in rehab now so we all hope that he can go home soon. Thank you to all that knew about this and were/are praying. We know that they have helped as things were looking really badly for a while. During this whole time we were talking to my in-laws about heath care directives and realized that we really need to update our health care directive so that if and when we need it is conforms to our wishes and those of the Catholic Church. I want to make sure I am clear now for one day when I might not be able to be clear about what I want.

2. I finally got through two teething boys and now that all of the teeth are in (8 total, 4 for each kid) they are sleeping better, are not as crabby, and I am a happier mommy. Whew I can't imagine how that must feel and I would probably be MORE than cranky if I were getting teeth. Speaking of teeth we are trying out this thing called a myo mumchee on our 2.5 year old to correct his overbite. We are hoping that by using this each day we can correct it before braces are needed...yikes those are expensive. I have a before picture and can't wait to have an after to prove it works. Might be a few years in the making since we don't do it as often as we should.

3. Why do I wait so long to get a haircut? After having a partial mullet and having my husband trim my neckline for a month or so I went in for a trim. While I was there I was talking to the hairdresser about coloring my hair and we went for it! I love it because it is just a natural color that only the white hair should take and even some of them didn't take the dye so it makes the grey a bit more blended and give a bit more life to the color of my hair. The hubby is not as happy with it but that's okay, it grows out. Well I don't know if you can tell the color by this bad cell phone picture, and it has been a few weeks so maybe some of the color is gone but I love it.

4. I have fallen in love with some removable wallpaper. I have always loved wallpaper but when I heard about this I decided I just have to have some. I would love to try it on my kitchen back splash but know that the master of the house will think I am crazy. Maybe I can find some other place to use it...

5. So this is reaching back a few weeks but I had a great Mother's Day. I got to spend it with both sides of the family and we went to my parents house and just sat around and ate. I even got to continue a puzzle that I have been working on for a year. I realized that three years ago I gave my moms (mom and mom in law) cards telling them that we were expecting on Mother's Day. It was such a fun surprise.
6. We have a trip planned and I am just dreading the packing for four people. Does anyone have any travel tips for flying with two under the age of 3? I have gotten a few tips and will always welcome more. I am sure it will be fine and the fact that my husband will be there with me on this trip will help but something about crying children on airplanes makes me want to break out in a sweat.

7. Since we are going on vacation and I have a few projects around the house that I would like to finish up soon I am taking a month vacation on my Etsy Store. I will for sure have it on vacation for a few weeks and then might just do in stock items for sale or I might keep it on vacation for a month and then open it back up for only stock items. I am not sure yet but I know that my family, and I, need this little break from having to do things late into the night. I might even be able to create more stock items to have ready to ship! This might also mean that the blog will have less posts this summer or maybe not since I will have a bit more time to spend on blogging?! I don't know yet. Wow I have been busy around here and I am missing you blog friends. I hope to jump back on the blogging wagon and start to post more often. It seems like now that the warm summer weather hit I have been busy with all kinds of things around the house and no time for blogging.

I love these fabrics that I have to show you today so lets drool over some pretties! The first fabric is a pink and green stripe, pretty simple but also so happily girly. The second fabric is a blue and white flannel with giraffe print on it. I think that is giraffe, not so sure about my animal skins. I have already cut these out to make mini taggie blankets and I hope to get working on those while I am on Etsy vacation next month. Then there are those cute green frogs on the pink and white dot flannel fabric. So soft and fun! Last but not least a green PUL which is for diaper covers but I used it to make some new diaper pail bags and travel wet bags for the car. The green is great because it is unisex and goes with the fabric in the boys room (where the diaper pail sits).

Here they are again, don't those two middle fabrics look so soft and cozy?! Hope to be back in a bit with another post. I might be hit or miss for the next few months of summer, a great time to get outside with the kiddos and I am going to work on a few big projects around the house. I will be sure to over share about all of them!
I am back to participate in the spring edition put on by Young House Love . Like the last project, this was also a for my friend who got married last summer. This was her second wedding gift to go along with the map hearts from the last challenge. Sorry these were so spread apart!

Inspiration photo was found on Pinterest of course and I used it as inspiration for a menu board for them. You can find the original link to the menu board Here. I had some extra burlap and thought this would be fun for their kitchen.

I started out with this picture which could have been hung like this in a bathroom or closet? I liked the shape and frame and that is why I picked to use it for the menu board. I took it apart and put burlap in the frame. She was using a lot of burlap and lace in her wedding decor so I thought this would only be fitting.

Instead of using vinyl for the wording I thought that screen printing the burlap would be longer lasting and bolder. So I printed that right onto the burlap with black ink.

I decided that instead of putting the days of the week I would just leave the bottom part blank this way not only can they use a dry erase marker to put the weekly menu they could also use it for a party and put the party menu or even just tape up a printed calendar of the week or month's meals.

And....here is what I came up with.

I like how it turned out, there is something about a square frame that looks modern and I hope will be a great addition to their kitchen. They did use it on the day of their wedding at the head of the buffet line to let everyone know what was being served for dinner. I wasn't even thinking of telling her to use it but she did! Smart girl.
It was chilly Sunday and so I wanted to wear something I would be warm in but at the same time I am so ready for spring that I didn't really want to wear my boots. I might have to put them on one more time before the 80 degree weather hits. I know that I will be excited to pull them out in the fall since I finally found a pair that fits and I like. Okay back to this outfit. I just got this top last week super on sale at Ann Taylor and yes it sort of looks like something my mom would wear, but then again I am a mom right? I like it and it goes well with my navy pants. This shirt is great for hiding that little mommy pooch and I love the zipper at the top in the back. So cute.

The pants I have had for several years, they were part of my work attire and now are part of my Church/everyday attire. These flats are wonderful, so comfortable and I like the little flower bundle attached to the toe box.

Do I look tired...well I am. We had a big weekend full of date nights and cooking so I am ready for bed as soon as everyone else is asleep. No sewing for me tonight.

Every kid needs an apron right? This was a giveaway item from probably about a year ago. I made this apron and the mom loved it and hopefully the kiddo is getting a lot of use out of it. I know kids love to help mom cook in the kitchen and so this is the perfect addition to many kitchens. I have a whole slew of Mommy and Me apron sets cut and ready to sew. Those would actually make cute Mother's Day presents. Maybe those with a box of chocolate?! :)
Sorry this post is short today. It was a rough weekend and I did a bunch around the house today. Time to go to bed.
Today was still a bit chilly from the rainy and cloudy day we had yesterday so I was not sure what to pull out of the closet. I have yet to wear this dress so I thought it would be a good option; short sleeved to cool me down but sweater dress to warm me up. Perfect combination on a cool day when you will be only wearing your outfit for a total of two hours. Sometimes I wish I could wear it longer, and I guess I could but I might feel a bit silly wearing a dress all day when I have to get down on the floor a million times a day to change diapers, read books, and play.

This dress is awesome because it was from Target on super steal for 3 buck!! Yes 2.98 something and tax and I could not pass it up. I was so glad that it fit and I can't wait to wear it again. I guess I only have a few more weeks until wearing a sweater dress looks silly. There is always this fall to feature it again. The leggings helped with the cool air and for me that was too much white leg to show of so early in the season (maybe too much leg for me all together). I was going to wear boots which would have been cute but too hot so I went for the simple black flats. I was the perfect temperature all mass long which is good because these days when I overheat I feel like I could faint. Not good when holding a baby.

I hope you are having a great Sunday. Please continue to pray for my Father-in-law who is in the hospital.

1. Please say a prayer for my Father-in-law. He has not been feeling well and fell today and was taken to the hospital. He has cellulitis and is on antibiotics in the hospital. Much better than we thought, which was a broken hip, but still very scary. Please say a prayer that he recovers quickly and makes it home. Also for all of the family (one member might be traveling to see him) that this just bring everyone closer together.

2. Sweet baby squirrel is getting FOUR top teeth at the same time. Yeah crazy. What is more crazy than that is that the top left tooth next to the front tooth has cut the gum first. It looks like he has a fang. haha I hate to say it but it is creepy and cute at the same time. yes I am that mom that has to show it to everyone. Even those who probably don't care to see it. You are included. Here is a picture.

creepy cute right?! Poor baby too many teeth at the same time.

3. So a skirt that you might have seen a while ago that I tried to wear with orange tights I revamped and ooopsed. Is that a word? I didn't really like the way the skirt fit and so I took in the sides (see before picture was after I took it in some) but I still didn't like how it looked so I wanted to take more in from the sides. I did that and was all excited to use my serger. While sewing along the thread was acting up and I was trying to fix it while sewing and I accidentally cut though the front of the skirt!!! AAHH I was so upset. That is what happens when you are up late sewing. So I calmed down a bit before throwing it away and realized I can totally patch it and make it look even better! I went to the local Hobby Lobby and picked out a few options for patches and went with the one below. I actually really like it and I think that it adds a little something to the skirt. Do you agree?

4. Has anyone gone Contra dancing? It is sort of like square dancing but a bit faster with more spinning. My husband and I (and a bunch of friends) used to go before we got married and a few times after and just haven't gotten a chance to go with two kids. My cousin was in town and she mentioned before she came in town that she loves to go contra dancing so I said we should go. It was a blast and now I want to be sure that we go dancing more often.

5. So speaking of how bad that outfit above is (and you know it is, even though you only got a small peek) I have been trying to work on my clothing. I don't know why but figuring out what to wear every day is part of feeling good, even when I don't have time to take a shower. I need to go through and get rid of the stuff that doesn't fit, or is too old, and figure out what I need to buy. I have a ton of nice work clothes, that I don't know if I can swing as a stay at home mom. So I need help. Not sure how that is going to happen....but let me know if you want to come over and help me sort.

6. I NEED A NEW CELL PHONE! Mine is old and I wouldn't care about that but my battery only lasts one phone call. Not good if you go out and something happens and you need to use it but oh yeah it won't work because the battery is dead. So now to figure out what kind of phone to get. iphone, windows based phone? Anyone have one that they love?

7. Finally, I had to get a new credit card because a local business got hacked and our numbers were stolen and someone in nyc was buying drugs at cvs (or maybe a bunch of makeup). Such a pain to switch that stuff out. Maybe I should try using the envelope system of budgeting and only use cash?! Ok no I know I would spend more money if I had cash to burn in my pocket. Sorry this last one was so boring...I guess I had nothing better to talk about. I guess I should have posted this fabric set in fall! Well at least today feels like fall outside, a bit chilly and rainy. I actually don't mind that but I can't wait for the warmer sunnier days coming up. The top print has a great combination of bright blue, orange and army green to make a great fall print. Out of the ordinary and great! The second fabric reminds me of an awesome tee shirt I have, maybe that is why I picked this up. I love the way the dots gather at one side of the fabric and then spread out as they go across the fabric. lovely. Finally there is yellow and pinky mauve dot fabric. A great stash building fabric.
