Another Batch of Burp Cloths

A year ago I wanted to make a bunch of burp cloths for me to sell at a local store that was having a craft fair. I didn't sell any there but have sold one set since. I hope to feature that set and how I altered it next week. I love how it turned out.

This is the set that I sold but I also have more of this fabric and can make another set if this tickles your fancy. All of these fabrics are by Amy Butler and I will never grow tired of looking at these pretty fabrics.

You might have seen these fabrics before in other things that I have made. I have a big bin of fabric that is the perfect size for burp cloths and every once in a while I just go through them and make a bunch of sets of burp cloths.

These and a few other sets are featured on Etsy and I would be happy to personalize them send them along to you. They are prefect for shower gifts or just a welcome home to mom and baby, especially when this is not the first baby. Sometimes mom is ready for something new for their second, third, etc child. They have to look at some many hand me downs that something new is fresh and oh so nice.

I have been on a fabric buying hold for a bit but looking at Amy's fabrics always makes me want to buy more. I haven't stepped foot into the local fabric store in a while just so that I am not tempted. So pretty.

Breastfeeding Cover-Maroon Floral

This breastfeeding cover was made from an Amy Butler fabric, and you know I love her fabric, so it was both wonderful and sad to make this item. Wonderful because her fabrics are so easy to sew, the quality is good, and I am so glad that someone will get to enjoy this fabric as much as I do. Sad because another pretty fabric that I was stashing is going away. I am proud of myself for letting this one go and I need to do this more often! I only have 5 more bins of fabric that I need to start cutting into but I they are just so pretty that I hate to do it.

I think this fabric is just so bold and lovely and fits the description "cute, free-spirited, and kinda hippie-like" that was used to help me narrow down the fabric choices to a few for the client to choose from.

New Fabric/New Find Friday #118

This fabric has been in my stash and I am sorry I haven't shared it with you yet. I love Amy Butler fabric, and sadly I just buy it and keep it and hate cutting into it. A few months ago I picked this up at my local quilt shop when they were having a sale.

These are the new colors of the year, first of all grey has been big for a while and it doesn't seem like it is going away yet. It has become a great neutral to go with so many colors and patterns. I used to hate it but now (thanks to my grey loving husband) it is the color of my son's room! The green colors in the bottom two are not quite emerald green but they are close. These blue, turquoise, green colors are sliding their way to the new color of the year emerald.

The top two fabrics are such soft florals that would really make a beautiful skirts but would be even better as a breastfeeding cover, maybe I will make an exception and cut into them in the future.The middle fabric, the snail pattern  is not from Amy but I thought it was so cute, perfect for a little kiddo. Maybe a pair of kids pajama pants? The last two fabrics I just love the colors,  bold strong grey and green with pops of fresh blue.

I hope to get sewing a bit more now that my Christmas orders are over so be on the lookout for more posts with new products!

Bagel Onesie and Breastfeeding Cover

When my cousin called and said she wanted a onesie with a bagel on it I was dying to hear the story. :) Her best friend had a baby and their last name is hard to pronounce so my cousin's daughters called her best friend's fiance (before they were married) Alan Bagel. SO as a running joke they were calling this baby to be, baby bagel because they were waiting to find out the sex of the baby.

So here is what we came up with. A white onesie with a brown bagel screen printed on the front. Doesn't it look cute?! It looks so good you could eat it. Ok not really.

Sorry the lighting is so bad, sometimes when I take pictures I just want to get them taken and the lighting in the basement is really good for working but bad for pictures.

This is the fabric that my cousin decided on for the breastfeeding cover. I love this Amy Butler fabric and hope that mama does too. She totally thought she was having a girl but she had a boy so I am glad we picked something with a little blue in it but then again because it is floral it has some feminine qualities for mom.

I have been making a few more covers lately and I really miss making them. I fought so hard to breastfeed and loved having a cover that I could use at Church and work that made me more comfortable. I want all moms to feel comfortable and covered, if they would like to be, while feeding their baby.

Pretty Dots All In a Row: Breastfeeding Cover

I have a few colorways of this fabric and there is something about it that I just like, the random dots, that they are connected by a thin line, the subtle color changes? I am not sure but I think it makes a great neutral colored cover for someone who is not sure what they are having.

I have quite a few friends having babies and this cover was for one of my first time mom friends. It has almost become standard that I give a cover to new moms but sometimes I just do not have time, this time I did. I hope that she enjoys this cover and I can not wait to find out what this baby is going to be...boy or girl. :)

New Fabric/New Find Friday #48

Here we are for another new set of fabric that I got on sale with those from last week. These are all Amy Butler fabrics and as much as I have falling in love with other designer's fabrics I still love hers the most. The fabrics that got me excited about sewing again.

The two fabrics on the left are the same pattern in different colorways and I think I still have some of  the other colorways in my fabric stash. These would make great neural nursing covers. The fabric on the right is one I have not seen in person yet and I really like it. The yellow really pops against that red/purple background and it is so fun and unique.

New Fabric/New Find Friday #47

I went to a local  fabric store a few weeks ago and picked up a lot of great things on sale. This is only one of a few posts about what I found. These are the fabrics that are not as bold and colorful as the other ones so I wanted to keep them in their own post.
They are both Amy Butler fabrics and I love the pattern on the left that almost looks like a paisley but it is more of a flowery tree pattern. It is subtle but at the same time is a big bold pattern. The stripe on the right is a bit more subdued in color and pattern. I could see this being made into a napkin or a neutral baby item or even part of a quilt. I love the bit of yellow/green that is mixed in with grey and blue.

I always have a hard time cutting into new and beautiful fabrics, so someone is going to have to force me! I can not have all of this fabric just sitting around, who needs something made? :)

New Fabric/New Find Friday #34

A fellow blogger was selling fabrics from her fabric stash that she was not going to use and I was so exited to buy some. I liked a LOT of them but only ended up buying three because the rest were sold out.

I am really learning to love orange this year, baby's room is orange, and this color just fits into the bold colors that I am drawn to. The stripe on the left I can see going more masculine and the pattern in the middle is like one I had in blue and I think could be more feminine. The green and yellow on the end is an Amy Butler and I just love a lot of her older fabrics so I had to pick this up.

The two orange patterns I can see myself using one day in a baby or kids room quilt and the green is up for grabs and is now going in MY fabric stash. :)

I am excited that the weekend is here already, what a great four day week it was! I need to do a lot around the house and one of the things I have to do is look at the diapers I got from Cotton Babies used sale to see if I need to fix any of them before baby Bee arrives in Jan. Cloth diapers rock my world and I am very excited to try using them.

New Fabric/New Find Friday #9

Today I have some fun fabrics to share. I have signed up for a monthy buying group from a quilting website and they send fabrics to me once a month. They don't tell you what they are going to send but every month it is a different fabric designer's fabrics. This month was an Amy Butler stack, LOVE THEM!

Believe it or not I do not already own these patterns in these colors. I think some of them are going to be so great for aprons, some for pillows, some for breastfeeding covers, and some for misc. items. I really can not wait to cut into them but at the same time I hate to cut them, they make me so happy because they are so pretty.

So anyone want to place an order?!

New Fabric/New Find Friday #8

This week's new find Friday is a bit different than the past posts. This week I needed to find a specific fabric for a project that I had in mind for a family member, usually I try to use something I already have on hand. This time I did have one piece of fabric but I needed a coordinating. So off I went to the fabric store and I ended up buying more fabric than I needed, as always, oh well always good to have options right!?

So here are the three fabrics, the top chenille is a fabric that I had from another project but did not have anything already that would go with it. I ended up picking up these two fabrics seen below the sold colored fabric to coordinate.

I forgot to bring with me my original fabric so I had to go by my memory of the color to pick out what would coordinate. First I found one fabric from my favorite designer Amy Butler, it is the one at the bottom with the octagons in pink, yellow, and orangie brown. The I saw the brown background heart fabric, and I just thought it was so sweet that I had to get it. I figured if it did not go with the neutral fabric then I would find something else to do with it.

When I got home I was excited to see which one would look the best and the winner is.....the brown fabric with hearts!

This present is on its way to a family member so as soon as she gets it I will post more about what I did with these fabrics.

New Fabric/New Find Friday #3

Today is a total Amy Butler day. I decided to buy these fabrics of Amy Butler because I love them and they were on sale. Can't beat a sale right? There were a few more that I didn't get, maybe I will go back later and pick them up. I just love them together.

What do you think? Great aren't they? My favorite one is the brown one on the very bottom, I love that pop of pink on the brown fabric.

If no one orders them for their covers or other items I might just have to use some to make a purse for myself or all of them to make a quilt or a patchwork pillow or something. I am sure something will come to me. Until then I am loving looking at them.

New Fabric/New Find Friday

As part of my plan to blog more often in 2010 I thought it would be fun to post once a week new fabric(s) that I bought or a fun find from the internet. I am calling it "New Fabric/New Find Friday" so original I know.


Today I wanted to post these three fabrics that I bought a few months ago. All three of these are Amy Butler prints and I just love the designs and colors of her fabrics. The one on the very bottom is one that I have used before to make this apron for a friend. I wanted to have a yard of it in my stash for when I need it next. I also bought at the same time the top two fabrics, they are the same pattern but in different colors. I love the flower and how it not only has a bright color but has pattern to the petals. I think they would make great aprons, or covers, or a part of a quilt. Who knows what I will do with them....

Rugs to Drool Over

I just found something that makes my day! Amy Butler a well known designer of beautiful sewing fabrics now has a line of wool rugs! This tickles me because it combining my two loves, sewing and my day job of selling high end carpet, how beautiful. Now if only I had a space to put this in my home.

Isn't that just so unique and beautiful?! Taken right from her line of fabric (same pattern below in fabric) that looks like this:
