Flower Power Pins

Have you noticed that in the last two posts there were pictures that were sideways?! I have no idea why blogger does this but when I save the images on my computer they are correct and then it flips them in blogger. I have tried figuring it out and I heard that it might be the canon camera I am using doing something strange when I take a picture. Any photographers out there want to help me out? It would be nice if there was a rotate picture option once it is placed on the page. Oh well I hope you can live with a few of these at a strange angle.

This is not the first batch of flower pins that I have made so these might not be new and exciting but I thought I would show you what I have been up to.

Some of these were made to order and were given as Christmas gifts and others are at the Pink Butterfly and you can find them on Etsy as well. I used to have one on my purse, until I gave it up for a diaper bag. I loved adding a bit of color to my neutral purse. It would also look cute on a coat, on a headband or just in your hair, or even on a sweater or a scarf.

I don't make these a lot but they were really fun to do so maybe I should go through my scraps and start making more.

Custom Order For A Friend

A good friend ordered a flower pin after seeing mine on my purse but she wanted purple and more monochromatic to go with her purse.
I love the grey/blue and purple pattern with the purple background and how great does it look on her purse!
She also wanted a soft taggie blanket after seeing the one I a made for my great niece. Hope her baby boy loves it.
I forgot to take pics so I hope that these phone pics she sent will do for all of you. I am still learning how to use my new camera but might be busting it out soon for some shots to post here.

Flower Pin Power

I have been trying to keep myself on top of making things by dedicating a week to one type of project. Doing this helps me to keep focused and pump out a lot more projects than doing them all one at a time.

This past week I spent time making some flower pins. Four are for clients and one is a showcase example/ for me later if no one buys it. Not all of them have been given to their owners yet and I usually do not post before the owners have their item but this is one of the few times that something I am making is not a surprise.
These were all chosen by the client to go with a specific purse and the fabrics were chosen by them. I can not wait to see how they look on their purses!!

If you notice in the image above one of them is not quite finished, I needed to go find a substitute fabric, I took care of that and below is the finished product. Very cute!

Back to working on this weeks set of projects, I will have those to show you next week.
Also don't forget to comment on my last post in order to win a pillow! You have until Friday at Midnight and I will post the winner on Monday (hopefully with a pic of the pillow all finished and ready to go home).

New Fabric/New Find Friday #10

How did this week go by so quickly? I am enjoying the sun and warmth and I am ready for spring, which is my favorite season. This week's new fabric/find Friday is going to be a little bit different, I didn't get any new fabric so it's time for a new find.

Last year I guess I was so busy, or lazy, that I used the same black purse all year long. I really like it but it is finally falling apart! All of the fake leather is just coming off in big black pieces, ick! I have been wanting to make my own purse after reading about Amy's purse making adventure but I have yet to do it so instead I have been on a purse hunt for about a month and finally found one that I like, and it comes with its own umbrella, bonus!!
I saw on one of the blogs I like to read that she put a fabric pin on her purse and I thought what a great idea! So off I was to make a fabric flower and I had nothing but a picture to go by but I think it turned out pretty cute. I used some scraps of my favorite fabrics and some little scraps I had from work to create this cute little flower, which is proudly displayed on my purse. It makes me happy to look at, and makes me think SPRING!

After looking at it for a few days I think that I should change the button to something solid and I love it for a purse but it would be better on a more causal fabric purse, I am not loving it on my purse anymore. What do you think? I think this pin would be great on a sweater or jacket also, where would you use it?
