A friend asked me to make a custom apron for her daughter for Christmas to match an apron that she already had. She asked for something red and didn't care about the embroidery, but doesn't it look so cute with her name on it!! Also afterward I put a pocket on it so it really would be "just like mommy's."
Here is an example of the other type of baby sling that I can make. I am just going to call it a Baby Pouch Sling. It is a very tight fitting sling that goes around your body keeping baby very close. It has two coordinating fabrics (the floral on one side and the stripe on the other) and "a cell phone pocket" on each side in the opposite fabric. This pocket can also be used for binkies, keys, etc. We have baby T in it in an upright position and we didn't want to upset her more by trying to get her down further. This sling is a size small/petite. Since this fabric does not stretch sizing is a bit harder. I am still trying to work it out and I am thinking of using a patterned jersey fabric next time I make it, which will be soon!
Here is yet another breastfeeding cover that I made for someone using that fun bright stripe, everyone loves it. It is so bright and cheery and very versatile, more girly but could be used with boys.....baby boys. ;)
I have made these really cute matching burp cloths for some people, I like the idea of matching the two items. Don't worry I will also be posting pics of some with just ribbon in case you don't like to match as much as I do. You can order these burp cloths by themselves in any of the fabrics show below.
I was just reminiscing the other day about how much fun silk screening was back in my Fibers class in college and about how great it would be to do it again. Then the very next week I see an email from Michael's that they were going to start selling the YUDU a silk screening machine!!!! I was excited! http://www.whatdoyudu.com/
Normally I don't like to use too many tools or things that I have to buy for each of my projects. I like to try to use things that I already have, old stamps, my computer, craft scissors from a few years ago. I also don't like to spend a lot of money, always going for the sale or the reused item, but I just heard about the YUDU and I just can not wait to go buy one!!! It is about 300 dollars which seems like a lot but think of all of the great things I can make. Not only can I print on all of my great fabric crafts projects I have in my head, but on my paper projects, wood, and who knows maybe even more! I am not sure when but I hope to get it before August (there is a gift card incentive attached). So be on the lookout for fun craft projects coming soon!
My name is Julia and I am a designer and lover of all things crafting. If there is anything that I think I can make, I give it a try. I have recently been making items that I can give as gifts at baby showers, wedding showers, and as Christmas gifts. I have two cutie sons, my first born son we call "Bee" born 2011 and my second son we call "Squirrel" born 2012.
I would love to make something for you! Check out my Etsy shop! Or you can look on this site for items that I make and then choose a fabric from the picture at the bottom of my blog in the footer (also look around for newer fabrics that I have used, under the label "fabric", that are not in the footer) and email me at designerjules(at)gmail(dot)com.
These are pictures of all of the fabrics that I am currently using. I know these images are small and I would be happy to email you larger image if there is one you like. Please look at the "fabric" label on the right tool bar to see other new fabrics I am using.
