Pretty Things For Your Hair

A collection of hair pins that I made a few months ago for a craft event. I have been wanting to use some of my fabric scraps for a while to make button hair pins and so I started there and I love some of the sets that I came up with. I also used the fabric with these hair pin blanks and covered them with a sealant. I love the vintage look that those little metal flower petals give. I might have to try a pair of these on myself and take a picture to show how they look like in actual hair. That might never happen because the last thing I mess with is my hair.

Some of these I think would be best on someone under the age of 15 but I do know some bold ladies that would totally stick one of these in their hair. I even have a few miss matched sets that would be great to stack on one side of your head pushing the hair back.

These will be ready to purchase on Etsy when my shop is open again in July.

Father's Day...

So Father's Day is Sunday and here I am just a few days away with some fun gift ideas that you will probably not be able to get in time for the actual day but you can always give an IOU or image of the item right?! Ok maybe not. I also missed Mother's Day gift giving ideas...or maybe I did share them with you and I don't remember, which is highly likely.

Anyway I saw these and thought of so many local men that would love these.

Red envelope never disappoints and I think they are so cool because they come from an actual game from the team of your choice. They are rather pricey but hey they are real baseballs. See them here or click on the image.

Speaking of cuff links I saw these on Etsy and thought they were so cool.. A picture of the ones he loves on his sleeves.

Speaking of pictures of the ones he loves, this seller does the same thing with a tie tack.
This would be great if your husband doesn't have shirts that need cuff links. I might just have to get one of these for my husband next year. If your man doesn't like something so visible, I have invisible tie tacks that grab your tie from behind so that they don't go blowing in the wind or falling into your food.

I am not able to fulfill any orders between now and Sunday but I did make a few Daddy and Grandpa Established shirts and a set of handkerchiefs would have been perfect items to give to dad or grandpa. Here are some examples of ones I have made in the past. I am sure you have seen all of these but I love having a collection of "what to buy dad/grandpa" all in one place.

All of those items above that I make should be for sale on my Etsy site but I have it on vacation for this month due to actual vacation/stuff to do around the house vacation.

I hope you and your families have a wonderful Father's day! Show those hard working men how much you love them.

What I Wore #21

What I Wore Sunday linkup

We had a great weekend full of parish picnics and bbq's and lots of family time. It is hard when my husband has to work on weekends but I am so glad to have family in town that I can go hang out with when we want to get out of the house. It was also wonderful not to have to cook most of the weekend...that is how I like it. :)

I pulled this dress out of the closet this morning since I wanted to wear something easy, a dress, and I haven't worn this since last fall. I got this while at a thrift store with a friend of mine last year and it was great while pregnant and it is even more wonderful now that I am nursing. It is very comfortable and I like that it is a brown print dress...a color of dress that I didn't used to own much of but now it seems like I have more and more. I like the pop of color green sash around the waste, adds some interest. The shoes are great little brown wedges that I got from target a few years back and I love that they have some bling on them...just enough to dress them up or down. A quick and easy outfit that was comfortable for the day while we were out and about after Mass.

Dress: Goodwill. I can't remember what the tag says.
Shoes: Target a few years ago.

OOHH I am also linking up with Grace...how did I miss her link up last week?!

New Fabric/New Find Friday #132

This set of fabric is sort of a miss mash of different fabrics that I got a while back. Who doesn't love animals and owls are especially popular right now so when I saw that black owl print fabric I had to pick some up for myself. I love that some of the owls have their eyes closed, half open, and totally open; would be perfect for some burp cloths. The second fabric in a dot pattern on a periwinkle background. This has a lot of different colors in it and would go with so many different ink colors for baby onesies. How perfect would it be for a fabric heart or initial on a shirt. The primary colored stripe that follows that is just so bold and the sneak of aqua in there really sets off the other colors. I don't remember if I have enough but this would make a great apron. Finally there are those sweet chicks. Yellow chicks remind me of the fabrics that my mom surrounded me with growing up. This fabric is bold but also looks a bit vintage with the color combination. For some reason I think of kitchen towels when I see this fabric.
Here is a close up of the fabrics...see that cute sleepy owl! Aww  My kiddos are asleep and it is beautiful, time to get some work done.

What I Wore #20

What I Wore Sunday linkup

What I Wore.....two weeks ago?! I took this picture and never felt like sitting down to talk about it so here it is a few weeks late. I bought this dress while pregnant and it worked well all the way though because the is stretchy and has some gather to the fabric at the waste so that it can expand. At the time I was excited to have something that I could wear before, during, and after pregnancy but now I am not sure if I still love it. I love blue and buy a lot of blue items but it have never been in love with the pattern. It is comfortable and works well for a lot of life changes so it is a keeper. Plus I think it sort of looks like my style.

We had a great day today at our local Family Life Picnic and now I am ready for a nap. I have to try to stay up for just a bit longer to finish a few projects but then straight to bed for this momma. I hope to have pictures next week that are current but who knows. ;)
