New Fabric/New Find Friday #108

This almost looks to me like a baby post with all of these soft soft baby colored fabrics. What will it be a boy or a girl? Great question but we are not finding out with baby #2 what it will be. I have some fun posts coming up about room changes and redecorating.

Back to the fabrics...I think I picked these up a while ago and am just now getting the chance to post them. The fabric on the bottom or left is a little piece I picked up and has nothing really to do with the others but I think it would be perfect as a border at the bottom of hand towels or as part of an apron. The light pink flannel is a tone on tone circle and I would love to use this on the back of a taggie blanket for a little girl. Both of the other two fabrics, the blue and pink are those super soft minky fabrics and these would be great coordinates to some bold patterns as lovies.
Sounds like these are all going to be turned into blankets and I can not wait to start sewing more now that I am less tired in the second trimester. Maybe one of these will be used by my future baby to be if no one else falls in love with them first.
Last but not least I found this cute white on blue polka-dot flannel fabric to go with this set but forgot to photograph it at the same time. Now I have two baby flannels and minky fabrics to start my sets of blanket/lovies.
All of you out there with babies and kiddos, do your little ones love their blankets? My son loves his to cuddle with while he sleeps. I hope you have a great weekend!

EJ Oneise and Star Leggings

***Don't forget to go to Monday's post to enter the giveaway. I can tell we are all image driven people by the fact that I have no pictures on that post and I have not had a single person enter the giveaway.***

This Etsy order was for a little girl who is a Jr. and they wanted to put EJ on the onesie. I thought it was sweet to have the first name initial with the J for Jr. I am guessing they are calling her EJ but I was not for sure that was true.
The letters are so thin that the hounds tooth pattern on the fabric becomes a bit abstract. It looks fun like puzzle pieces. The leggings are cute little green stars on teal, the green is almost neon but not that bright. I am still a bit hesitant about neon being back in style and I think only kids can wear it...at least I am not ready to wear it anywhere but my toenails (if even there).

I am in love with the fact that Spring has finally sprung, my favorite season! I hope you are enjoying the weather as much as I am.

Today is the Third anniversary of this blog! Some days it feels like I have been blogging for a lot longer than three years and other days it feels like I am still new to this and still learning (and that is sort of true). As you learned last year I call my anniversary my blog birthday and I like to give presents.

New Fabric/New Find Friday #107

This week we have more neutral fabrics that I purchased when I was shopping for neutral breastfeeding covers. I was never really a big fan of the color grey, actually I used to really not like it at all but something has changed. Is it because my husband loves the color grey? Is it because half of my hair is now grey? haha I don't know but I am finding myself more drawn to it. So here are a few fabrics that I picked up with some grey tones in them.
The top fabric is a grey hounds tooth and this one I purchased to make a breastfeeding cover from. I like the color grey used in this fabric, it is almost like a warm grey with some brown in it. The fabric below that is a zebra print. Who doesn't love animal prints? I think this is a dark grey or even black and white pattern that I only have a small piece of. I think this would be fun to do as an applique on an onesie. Finally there is the black grey and white pattern at the bottom. This one screamed out to me for my holiday towels. I think I might use this fabric for the "New Year's Eve" applique.
Well like I said I am learning to love grey a bit more and in the next few weeks you will hear me talk about grey a bit more. I guess that is what happens when you love someone, you try to see where they are coming from and I guess I have seen where my hubby is coming from and have learned to like certain shades of grey.

I wish I had something green on here for St. Patrick's Day. I hope you all have a great weekend and Happy St. Patrick's Day tomorrow.

Star Wars Onesies- Girl and Boy

I was shocked to find this in my archives this morning. I thought for sure that I had posted this before but I guess not. You may remember that I did a Star Wars onesie for a friend of mine with brown ink.
This time I had two different orders, one for a pink Star Wars onesie and one for a blue Star Wars onesie. I thought they were a lot of fun and as you could guess one was for a boy and the other for a girl. I think these are just the best present for those geeky parents who love Star Wars. I have yet to do one of these on a kids tee-shirt but that could be great for a vintage look or for those kids who have also fallen in love with Star Wars.
Here is a close up of the blue onesie, do you see that there is a bit of shimmer in this blue. I like how it adds dimension to the image.
The pink also has some shimmer to it, which again I love. I wonder what kind of reaction people get when their kiddos are wearing these. I hope it is good and that people love them. I need to think of some more vintage silhouettes to do on some onesies. Rainbow Bright? G.I. Joe? Any suggestions?

Also I am getting ready to do a giveaway and wanted to know if you guys had anything in particular you would love to win from me? I am looking for suggestions. Maybe I can even just give away a gift certificate.

Breastfeeding Cover-Brown and Pink

This cover went to a woman who is very lucky. I got emails from both her husband and sister-in-law about buying this cover. I was surprised two people would be interested in the same cover at the same time but then I realized it must be for the same person. Well the husband gave it over to the sister and we got the order placed and shipped out quickly.
She was having a girl and I think this fabric is so much fun. I love the combo of the orange and pinks on the brown background. I hope that she just loves to wear this and that it makes her happy while relaxing and bonding with her baby.

New Fabric/New Find Friday #106

I know at least one young lady who will love these black and white fabrics. I picked these out a while back to make some breastfeeding covers that I can offer in stock and place in a local store. These would be perfect for the mom who doesn't know what she is having but wants to be prepared or someone who just loves to wear black.
The top black and white I already made a cover for a friend and she loves it. I think I even went out and bought more fabric so I could make more. The second and third fabric have splashes of yellow in them which I think still keeps it neutral but adds a bit of color for those that don't just want black and white.
Here are the close-up pictures of all three. I love the little flower in the second fabric and the third fabric sort of reminds me of a button. These two bottom fabrics would also make a great apron. I might have to buy more fabric to make an apron as well.

I hope everyone has a great weekend. I will be a Cotton Babies in South County at their garage sale. Stop by if you need to pick up a little something for your kiddos.

Mommy and Me Aprons

A few weeks ago I posted here about some aprons that I made and I told you I had something to show you with the last apron and I am finally getting my act together to show what I did with it. I have been thinking for a while about making an apron for kids to match the mommy aprons and I think these are really cute sets.
A friend of mine wanted to send a set of aprons to a friend of hers out of town. She liked this apron and wanted two kids aprons to go with it. I wanted to be sure that the apron could fit the kids for a long time so I made them with ribbon instead of fabric so they can be tied in a bow instead of having a one sized strap to go over your head.
Here is the finished kids apron and I really like the way they turned out. It will be great for kiddos that like to help mom in the kitchen. I have a few sets already cut out and I just need to get them sewn together so that they will be ready on Etsy to sell. If you are looking for a set just let me know and I can tell you what I have cut.
