Lots of Cloths To Clean Baby's Face Clean

I was on a roll a few months ago and made a few sets of burp cloths to sell at a local boutique. I didn't sell that many there but I did sell quite a few at the local Cotton Babies store a few months back. I am so glad most of these are off with their new owner and cleaning up many baby faces.
This set is from two leftover fabrics from two breastfeeding covers. One with dots and one with stripes.

This is made from my favorite set of fabrics. I don't know if I will ever get tired of seeing these two fabrics together.
This is the only set that I have left in stock ready to ship. It is made from flannel fabric, so it is super soft. How cute are those turtles?! Check out my Etsy site to pick these up.
These grey blue and pink cloths are sweet for a little girl. Love the dots with the floral.

I want to make more sets of these to have in stock. Please email me or send me a convo on Etsy if you want me to make a set of burp cloths for you. I have a ton of scraps left that would be the right size for these.

Happy Memorial Day! I hope all of you are out enjoying family and friends and thanking a service man/woman who fought/fights to keep us free.

New Fabric/New Find Friday #112

It is time for some blue and brown action! I have a few new fabrics that I just love! I sometimes feel like I keep showing you the same things over and over but really when you look at the fabrics that I have I have a whole rainbow of colors.

The one on the top is a blue fabric with brown flowers on it. I think this is a small piece but wouldn't it make a great apron? The second fabric down I just can not stop looking at. From far away it just looks like polka dots but when you look at it close up the spots are really sunbursts. There is even a little gold glitter in one of the colors. The bottom fabric will make a great breastfeeding cover! I love the greens, blue and white on the brown background. I think this could be for a mama having a boy or girl.
Can you see the sunbursts in the close up?! Nice huh?

Large Taggie Blanket

A friend of mine had her second baby and wanted to make a blanket for her second child like one she got as a gift for her first child. So she asked me to help her. I think it turned out okay but I am really had on myself and hate how the embroidey turned out.
I love the color of minky fabric she picked out and she asked for navy, white, navy, and green ribbon and I really had fun picking those out from my ribbon stash. It was all going so well until I started to emboirder the name. My machine didn't let me space between names so I had to try to line them up which is SO hard. Then the fabric is so stretchy that it kept puckering. After several tries this is what came out.
Not my best but as good as I could do it at the time. NOW I finally bought the program I needed so I can do spaces and monograms. I have yet to use it but can not wait to see what I can do.

This is the largest taggie blanket that I have made to date but I have a ton of sets ready to sew and I hope to get some made before materinty leave, only 3 more months!

Sew Mama Sew Giveaway 2012

**********Updated: Giveaway is closed**************

This is the third year I am participating in the Sew Mama Sew giveaway and I am excited to do the same again this year!

The last two years I gave away breastfeeding covers, I love making them and seeing women who use them and love them. This year I wanted to do something different, something more juvenile. I am preparing to make mother and child aprons and wanted to make a few more children's aprons before making the sets.

This is an example of the apron style. It will be a full apron with ties at the top and around the waist that make them adjustable to wear for years to come.

This is an image of the fabric that will be used for the apron. The ribbon used for the neck and waist will probably be brown or something that will coordinate with this fabric.

Here are the rules:
  • Post a comment on this post to enter. Tell me what you love to make with your kids (or what you hope to one day make with your kids).
  •  You have until May 25 at 5 p.m. PST to enter to win. Winner will be announced by email no later than Sunday, May 27 and I will update this Giveaway Day post to include the winner’s name.
  •  Winner needs to be from The Continental United States no international shipping.
  • I will pick a winner via random.org.
  • I will ship the item by June 1st.
For those of you who are new to my blog....welcome! I hope you have a chance to look around at all of the fun things that I make. For those faithful followers thank you so much for sticking by me and please go check out some other fun blogs and giveaways listed here. Don't forget to check out my Etsy store where you can purchase my products. You can get there from the products page here on my blog or right there on the right sidebar.

Good Luck!

New Fabric/New Find Friday #111

Who doesn't love minky fabric? It is so soft and cuddly and babies love it! I am going to pair these fabrics with some other print cottons to make either taggie blankets or small blankets.
I picked up these two colors, the green one that will be perfect for boys and neutral blankets. The bright pink one will be great for sweet little girls. Now to find some fabrics that I have in my stash to go with them.
Don't these look so soft you could eat them? Just like cotton candy. My son loves his little blankie and I hope to make more of these for other little kiddos to enjoy.

This seemed like the longest week and I am so glad it is Friday. We have a fun weekend ahead and I hope that it doesn't go by too fast. Enjoy!

L and The Star

This set of onesies and leggings I sold on Etsy quite a while ago (can you tell by the winter leggings?). This set was purchased by the aunt of a little girl for a present if I remember correctly.
She wanted to start with the L onesie and snowflake leggings and then also wanted a set that would not be so season specific so we went with the orange and red striped leggings. I already had this set ready to go with the star on the onesie and I think that will be a nice change from the L. Not only that but maybe the next or other babies can wear this onesie with out being named an L name.
Here is a better view of the fabric I used to make the L. I like that it looks like it could be a winter snow pattern but also could just be a sweet red and white pattern for year round.

I actually have not made a onesie and legging set in a while and sort of miss it. I might have to start making some for our new baby to be. I actually will have to wait since I am not sure what we are having. It is a great set to give for baby showers or welcome home presents. Maybe I will get more orders now that we are in the "warmer" seasons.

Speaking of warmer, I am so glad the weather is finally warm. I know most people hate when it is hot but I really do love spring and summer.

Craigslist

As you noticed in my 11 Questions post on Friday I mentioned that I love sales and deals and one place that I love going to look for things I am in need of is Craigslist. Not only can you get a good deal on something that you are in need of but someone else is trying to get rid of something they can't use anymore. It is a win win for both parties and a form of recycling. I found a ton of really useful items for the craft area in the basement (as you remember from my pevious post) which helped us save money on that to put towards the flooring etc.
The other place I love to get items is Upcycle Exchange. It is a local store that takes in fabric, and other craft/vintage items. You get a credit for what you bring in to buy some items that are there. You can also just go in and buy items that you might need or just drop off if you are needing to clean out. There are a ton of vintage fabrics, papers, maps, buttons, jars, etc ready for you to take home and craft with. I have seen glitter binding, ribbon, and jewelry.

Sometimes my husband called me a hoarder and usually I tell him I disagree but then sometimes I look around at the things I save and wonder if he is right.

I think this desire to save things comes from when I was little. My parents didn't have a ton of money so they sometimes made use of the recycled things, for example I had this "doll house" when I was little. It was really just the front of a house with a porch on the second and first floor. I am guessing it was some sort of display from a store or something but I really loved it and would play with my Barbies on it. I see now that my son loves to play with boxes and things that one would not call a toy, I think that makes for a creative mind, something I hope he has one day. The ability to make anything into something useful and make anything into a toy. I think this is what really leads me to be a creative crafter or at least try my hand at all things.

When I do want to give away items that are just cluttering up the house it is great to have places to take the items that I am not using anymore. Not only Craigslist, and Upcycle Exchange but also free cycle and giving to friends.

So sorry for no pictures today. None of these sites know that I am even writing this post, it is all my personal opinon.

New Fabric/New Find Friday #110

I  had this post ready to go but when I tried editing it with my ipad it totally deleted the pictures. I have no idea if this was the one that I already posted about or that I was going to post about. So here we go.

The fabric on the left is a seersucker and has little teddy bears embroidered on it. The soft brown and white is sweet and I think these would make the cutest bubble outfit for a little guy. The brown and pink polka-dot would be great as a breastfeeding cover. I wish it was a smaller pattern, it would be great for applique letters if it was. The floral pattern is sweet and would make perfect fabric for applique letters.

I went and found many more fabrics today that I can not wait to show you. I hope I can get used to this new blogger set up. The question now is should I change my blog background or stay with what I have.

Have a great weekend and Happy Mother's Day to all mother or mother figures out there.

New Fabric/New Find Friday #109

Today it is time for some random fabrics that I found laying around that I don't think I have shown you yet. If you remember these lovely creatures I am sorry for posting twice. Maybe I just love them that much.
Anyway this red and white stripe I bought because I thought it would be great as a Christmas candy can fabric for some Christmas applique but now I am second guessing that. Now when I look at it I see Halloween pirate bandannas. Ha! The penguin print is so cute! My parents were cleaning out their garage and my mom found this fabric in her stash. Did I ever tell you that my mom used to make a lot of my clothes when I was little? I guess she had plans for this but it never happened. Oh how I understand that! I love it too and have no idea what I will do with it but maybe it needs to be made into some fun pajama pants for my baby boy. He and the new baby can have matching pants. Do you guys have any thoughts on what you would do with this fabric? I took the picture the other direction but the lines of penguins do go from left to right not up and down.
Here is a closer shot so you can see the colors a bit better. That green makes me think of fields of green green grass. Perfect this time of year as everything is grown and green.

I hope you guys go over and check out That's What (Che) Said and enter all of her giveaways. Cool stuff!
